Dear Parents, 
Hello! My name is Morgan Ball and I am very happy to have your child in my second grade class this year. I’d like to begin by telling you a bit about myself. I graduated from Purdue University Calumet with a degree in Elementary/Special Education. Throughout my education I had many experiences within the classroom viewing and engaging in the lessons and activities. I was able to have many hands on experiences that make me very excited to have my own classroom and help your child succeed and feel confident going into the third grade next year. I absolutely love teaching and I cannot wait to get to know your child.
We have a great year ahead of us! We’ll be reviewing a lot, learning even more, and of course having tons of fun along the way! Second grade is an exciting year filled with new independence and increasing abilities. It is a year where first grade concepts are reinforced and built upon. Yet, the students are beginning to read and write to learn instead of learning to read and write.
It is important you and your child be informed of my classroom management system so that everyone knows what is expected. I attached a copy of our classroom rules and procedures and other important information. Please take some time to familiarize yourself and your child with the information in the packet.
I strongly believe that parental involvement is extremely important to be successful in the classroom. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read the material in the packet. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you throughout the year. My main objective in writing this letter is to get to know my students. If you could please take a moment and write me a letter about your child, it would be immensely helpful since making your child feel comfortable in my classroom is a major part of his or her success as a student as well as mine as a teacher.
